Dr. Joshua Lewis is an Adjunct Professor at Dartmouth's Tuck School of Business and a Lecturer in the Department of Economics. He was previously Founder and Managing Partner of Salmon River Capital, a specialized investing firm that over its 20+ year life generated top decile returns.

Professor Lewis teaches a humanities course at Tuck / Dartmouth, Moral Reasoning: From Machiavelli to The Bomb to AI, and, with Dartmouth Economics Professor Heidi Williams, a Dartmouth undergraduate economics course, ECON 48: Microeconomic Policies and Economic Growth.

                                    

Dr. Lewis was previously a venture capital and private equity investor.  Over his first decade in the business he was a partner at two world-class firms.  He then founded and built a specialized venture capital and private equity firm that backed a range of innovation-driven businesses, several of which had transformative impacts on their sectors.

Over this 30 year period Lewis sat on a wide range of corporate boards in the human capital / education, technology, fin-tech, and life-sciences sectors.  He also served on the boards of several pioneering social enterprises.

Dr. Lewis received a D.Phil in philosophy from the University of Oxford (1989) and an A.B. summa cum laude from Princeton University (1984).
